Why I Need to Know my Identity


Joshua 1:7-8. To obey the Word, one must know the Word, to be strong and take courage, one must know what the Word says about them, to meditate on the Word day and night, one must have it in their heart… in this way they will prosper and have succeed in all they do.

John 17:11,14-16. We are protected by the power of His Name, yet it is necessary to learn from the Word what authority that Name has and how we are to use it.

Romans 12:2. Transformation comes by changing the way one thinks (repentance) which changes how they see themselves and what they do. It is the path to learn how to think in alignment with God.

Ephesians 1:17,18. Gaining insight and understanding in the Word increases one’s knowledge of who God is.

Ephesians 4:14,23. When one knows the Word, they are not double minded, unstable, they are able to keep their eyes on Jesus, and walk in tandem with Him.

Ephesians 5:17. Understanding what God asks of us will come from understanding Him by knowing His Word.

Ephesians 4:10-18. Darkness and hardness of heart can come by not knowing the Word and walking in it.

Colossians 1:9-11. We are called to grow in our knowledge of Him and understanding of His ways.

Colossians 1:23. We are admonished to continue to believe the truth of His Word and stand firmly in it.

Colossians 2:8-10. The Word will give us wisdom and discernment so we are not captured by the wisdom of men that does not align with God.

2 Timothy 1:14. The Holy Spirit, living in us will guard the Word which we feed on.

2 Timothy 3:14. We are to remain faithful to the Word.

Hebrews 4:12. The Word is alive and powerful, and a tool used to separate one’s soul (mind, will, emotions) and their spirit, exposing what is fleshly, natural, earthly thinking, and what is from the throne room.

2 Corinthians 5:7. We are to live, we are to walk by what the Word says, not what we see.

2 Corinthians 10:3. We take our thoughts, measure them by the Word, and throw those out that do not align with truth.
